Blackback Viper

The Blackback Viper is a giant form of Xenos snake native to Catachan, the most infamous Death World in the Imperium. Considered to be one of the most venomous of all Death World predators, the Blackback Viper is over fifteen paces long and can bring down even the largest reptiles of Catachan with a single venomous bite. The Viper's fangs can kill a man in under thirty heartbeats, his bones fusing with alien toxins.^[1][2]

The famous Catachan Jungle Fighter, Arden of the 301st Regiment was reported to have managed to survive the infamous venom of a Blackback Viper, even breaking it's back over his knee before finally passing out.^[2]
