The Dark Sovereign was a powerful and ancient warship of the Dark Angels during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy.

Overview

Dating back to the Dark Age of Technology, she was a unique killing engine, a thing recovered from the permafrosts of Ganymede by the Emperor’s own hand early in the Great Crusade.[1]

The predator ship was sable-black, long and wicked as a blade, the near-seamless armour of its surface featureless save for a single crimson icon across its prow in the image of a wing sword. The Dark Sovereign was equipped with Vortex Torpedoes and cannons, along with an array of Void Shields strong enough to withstand an immense weight of fire undaunted.[1]

History

The Dark Sovereign took part in the Rangdan Xenocides.[1]

This vessel fought at the head of a Dark Angels task force in the Xana Incursion during the Heresy, where it swept aside the traitor system orbital stations, and destroyed much of Xana’s vast arms fleet of macro-conveyors. It would further go on to capture the potentially xenos-originated crystalline void dromond MU-571, along with another of Xana’s barques before departing the battle with its prizes.[1]
