The Blooding is a Blood Angels short story by Ray Harrison. It was released in December 2014 as part of the Black Library Advent Calendar.

Brother Helias of the Blood Angels, newly ascended to the Second Company, faces harsh trials as he faces traitorous Chaos Space Marines and the darkness that lurks within his own soul. Can he defeat the enemy without and the enemy within, or will he be consumed by the twin curses of his bloodline?


Synopsis

Brother Helias, a recent addition to 2nd Company, kills a Chaos Space Marine and subsequently undergoes the Blooding. Giving-in to the Red Thirst, the Blood Angel momentarily experiences several hallucinations of impending doom for the Chapter. Awareness returning, the Space Marine is congratulated by Brother-Captain Aphael for defeating the monster within, however Helias is not so sure this is the case.[2]
