Varnan Dreir
Varnan Dreir is a Lord Marshal in the Death Korps of Krieg Regiments.[1]
History
Varnan Dreir began his career as a lowly trooper in the Krieg 143rd Infantry Regiment. As a Ridemaster in the Regiment's Death Riders he first rode his faithful steed ES819.[3]
Dreir rose through the ranks of the Astra Militarum to eventually become a Lord Marshal. He has commanded Imperial Guard battle groups in dozens of war zones, demonstrated an uncompromising determination to achieve victory regardless of the human cost in each. Despite this outlook, he is not accused of being wasteful or irresponsible with his men. Rather, Dreir is held in great esteem but the greatest Imperial strategists and well liked by those under his command. This is due to not only his string of victories, but also willingness to personally risk his own safety by commanding and motivating from the front.[2]
Dreir's steed, ES819, has fallen in battle multiple times and suffered wounds that in normal circumstances would have resulted in termination. Yet on each occasion, the creature appears at the Lord Marshals side once again fully recovered and repaired. Some Krieg soldiers claim the two are unkillable due to having been blessed by the Emperor Himself. Dreir holds no such belief, and knows one day his time will come.[2]
