Monofilament weaponry uses technology unique to the Eldar.[1]

The weapon makes use of projected streams of molecular-thin wire composed of a complex organo-polymer compound, kept in a liquid state within a magnetic reservoir in each weapon. These wires are released from thousands of microscopic firing ducts in the weapon and woven into a cloud-like net through spinning gravity clamps. So sharp are these mono-filament nets that those caught within them are quickly reduced to bloody chunks, their struggling serving only to hasten to their imminent demise, as the wire slices through flesh and bone and wraps around the victim to seek out gaps in their armour.[1][2][3]
