The Pyrodomon is a blast wave of Warp fire, that is frequently striking the Thousand Sons Sorcerer Ahriman's, Exiles Warband.[1]

According to Ahriman, it is an after-effect of the Second Rubric of Ahriman ritual they cast on the Sortiarius, before they made their escape. However the ritual did not end as he suspected and was now raging out of control. This led to the creation of the Pyrodomon, which strikes at them repeatedly from the Warp itself, and the Exiles do not currently know how to stop it. The first signs of its coming appeared, when the Exiles's soothsayers and augurs began losing their ability to see the future. Soon they could only look a few seconds ahead at most, but reported seeing a burning horizon in their line of sight when they did so. The rest of the Exiles began seeing this horizon as well and Ahriman gathered the Circle of his lieutenants to discuss what it was. None could give an answer, though the Sorcerer Ctesias suspected that the silent Ahriman knew the truth.[1]

Soon, the Exiles were struck by a burning sensation began radiating from core of their bodies until it covered them completely. Then pain wracked their bodies, as the light from the burning horizon suddenly came rushing forth to envelope them. Pain, burning and the roar of a firestorm was all they feel, hear or see, until it finally stopped. It left the Exiles with the taste of dust and ashes in their mouth and to their surprise, even the Warband's Rubric Marines had been effected by the horizon's fire. They had left freezing in place and ghost-fire burned from their eyes afterwards. Miraculously, some even spoke and either called out for old comrades, asked for help or for the fire to stop. This should not have been possible since the First Rubric of Ahriman had caused them to be nothing but dust in suits of power armor. The Exiles began to panic in the aftermath of the attack and theories abounded as to what had just occurred. Some thought it was a curse from their Daemon Primarch Magnus for causing the Second Rubric of Ahriman, while others thought that changes within the Eye of Terror were responsible.[1]

The fire then struck again and again, each time causing the Exiles to suffer more intense pain. The warning signs of its attack were also less frequent and then it began to physically change the Warband as well. After one attack the Exiles found that one of their Rubric Marines had been turned completely into dust. Others followed and Ahriman sent Ctesias to seek answers from Daemons, about the constant attacks. He was successful and returned to the Warband with a name: Pyrodomon. The Daemons claimed it was an apotheosis, a metamorphosis in flame and soon afterwards Iskiades was the first Sorcerer to be permanently changed by it. When the next attack passed the Exiles found that he had been impossibly changed into a Rubric Marine, filled with dust and the echo of his name. It was then that Ahriman told the Exiles that he believed the Pyrodomon was a result of the Second Rubric of Ahriman, which was still ongoing and now out of control. Shortly afterwards, he led the Warband in a hunt for a cure, before the Pyrodomon turned them all into dust.[1]
