Warhammer 40k - Lexicanum talk:Help - Linguistics
Language level
We do not expect unreasonably high language skills since the texts should be written in a way that as many people as possible will understand them. A basic level and grasp of grammar is however required.
Frequent grammar mistakes
"When people's names end in 's', you can either add ' or 's (Charles' or Charles's) and choose pronunciation accordingly, either /iz/ or /isiz/. You might sometimes need to choose the latter to make the meaning clear. Source. --Inquisitor S., Großmeister des Ordo Lexicanum (talk) 23:03, 5 August 2019 (MDT)
Capitalization
A decision on capitalization in article names. --Inquisitor S., Großmeister des Ordo Lexicanum (talk) 11:08, 14 August 2019 (MDT)
Also a decision or guideline on the capitalization of terms within articles is needed
About your last edit of this article. It is a principle of Warhammer 40r unoverse to use terms with capital letters. Names of planets, weapons, Mechanicus terms, Space Marine terms - a similar principle is used in almost all articles in the Lexicanum. Are you going to correct this rule in all articles? I think this is illogical. Space Hulk like in capital letters (at least in its own article) - is a normal.--Darkelf77 (talk) 06:23, 27 October 2023 (UTC)
- I looked around a few sources I had lying around (Kill Team: Into the Dark, the 8th edition Blood Angels Codex, and the rules for Orkish space hulks in Battlefleet Gothic) as well as a few Warhammer Community articles (like this one and this one). Literally every time they write "space hulk", it is lower cased unless it's in a title or referring to the board game. Games Workshop is oftentimes inconsistent with its capitalization, but that ain't the case here. And yeah, there are a lot of writing mistakes like this throughout the wiki, I'll try to fix them as I come across them. --Mikaka (talk) 07:27, 27 October 2023 (UTC)
Italics
Ship, tank etc. names should always be written in italics. Makes for much easier reading. --Inquisitor S., Großmeister des Ordo Lexicanum (talk) 06:23, 11 May 2019 (MDT)
Verbatim copies
- Verbatim copies are generally not allowed with the exception of quotes.
