Cyber-Ambulls are Ambulls that have been cybernetically enhanced, to become even more potent, swift tunnelers and are now used to mine Imperial worlds.[1a]

Description

Not much of the Ambulls' original faces remain after the operation and control cables now cord their tungsten-plated bodies, like external muscles. They are equipped with toothed power-saws and hammer-drills, which are slotted into grooved elbow-chucks that replace the Ambull's original forearms. The Cyber-Ambulls are also given plasteel-reinforced orbits around their eyes, twin torches welded to their brow ridges and a noise-suppression field. This means their excavation work produces no deafening reverberations, except the cracking of chewed-up stone. They likely also have a secondary artificial gullet, as the Cyber-Ambulls can gulp down large amounts of debris. One of their shoulders can also bear an antler-like bracket that serves as a rack for other auxiliary tools, the Cyber-Ambulls can be equipped with.[1a]

Squat Engineers can ride atop a Cyber-Ambull in order to directly control them. Their seats are located upon the Cyber-Ambull's lower back, just behind a bulging spur of polished spine bone that contains control knobs. The Engineers can all ride the Cyber-Ambulls to war and the Ambulls' antler bracket is used to carry a Heavy Bolter, along with the weapons carried by the Squat.[1a] However, if the Engineer is slain or removed from the Cyber-Ambull, it will become savagely confused.[1b]

Cyber-Ambulls are said to reek of rancid oil, hot vulcanized rubber, bestial Xenos sweat, bitter breath and a whiff, almost, of the Warp itself.[1a]
