Laches was a Captain of the Ultramarines Legion, serving with the Legion's 22nd Chapter during the Great Crusade.^[1]

Laches commanded the Chapter's First Destroyer Company during the Thoas Campaign. He succeeded Machon Phalaris as Captain after Phalaris became the 22nd's Chapter Master.^[1]
