The Tembarong Road was a famous road on the planet Hagia.[1a]

Overview

The Tembarong Road was a route well-travelled by pilgrims on Hagia. In the old texts of Irimrita, the road was known as the Ayolta Amad Infardiri, literally meaning "approved route of Infardi procession" ("Infardi" meaning "pilgrim" in the local dialects of the planet). The road was also known simply as the Pilgrim's Way.[1b]

The road ran roughly northwest from the planetary capital near to the course of the Holy River before crossing the river at Nusera. At Limata, the road forks, with one branch heading southwest to Hylophon and Tembarong itself, and the other north to Bhavnager and then up into the Sacred Hills towards the Shrinehold of Saint Sabbat.[1a] The branch that heads through the hills is called the Pilgrim's Pass.[1d]

Along the side of the Tembarong Road, there are many collections of post tombs - ornately carved wooden boxes mounted on decorated posts, used to mark the final resting places of pilgrim-priests who died while traversing the road.[1c]
