The War of Flames began during the Age of Apostasy, when Arch-Cardinal Perigno, the right hand of Goge Vandire, declared the Salamanders Chapter's Promethean Cult to be heretical to the Imperial Creed.[1]
This later led to five of the Salamanders' Companies being attacked on the Hive World New Folly, by three Orders of the Sisters of Battle, alongside a massive army of faith. Though at first the Salamanders only fought to defend themselves, they went on the offensive after the Sisters of Battle begin attacking New Folly's Hives. Thankfully the conflict ended when the news of Perigno's death at the hands of the Inquisition arrived; the Ecclesiarchal forces dissipated and left the Hive World.[1]
