The Cult is led by the High Thaumaturge, who was feared by its members and many plotted against each other in order to please him the most. Under the Thaumaturge's guidance, the Cult took part in the Plague Wars and the Daemon Primarch Mortarion later ordered them to aid him on Parmenio. Though some of the Endless Proliferation were talented psykers, their power was nothing compared to Mortarion and they became meek and keen to please the Daemon Primarch. After arriving at his side, the Cult was ordered by Mortarion to summon forth the Great Unclean One Ku'Gath and his Plague Guard to Parmenio. The Daemon Primarch needed the Daemons aid, to defeat his brother Guilliman who sought to both defeat Mortarion and destroy the Warp Clock that was corrupting Parmenio. Mortarion ordered the Cult to begin right away and warned the High Thaumaturge that they would suffer if the Warp Clock was destroyed before Ku'Gath arrived.[1]

The High Thaumaturge quickly began the ritual of summoning, which required 7 of the Cult's Seers, most blessed by Nurgle, to be sacrificed. The Thamumaturge then asked the Chaos God to take their souls into his Nurgle, before the 7 gladly and willingly eviscerated themselves. Nurgle accepted their offering and their bodies were melded into a giant Warp Gate, which burst open. The explosion killed most of the Cult, except for the High Thaumaturge and his banner bearer, but from its opening, Ku'Gath and his Plague Guard emerged on Parmenio from Iax.[1]
