The Gorgon's Forge[2]

The Gorgon's Forge is a vault on Medusa, homeworld of the Iron Hands.[1]

Overview

One of the few permanent structures on Medusa, this subcontinental-sized fortress-shrine is a hailed by the Chapter and Mechanicum as one of the true wonders of the Omnissiah. Sheathed in Dark Age of Technology Void Shields, great bridge towers near Medusa's southern polar ocean harvest the energy of the world's mighty storms in order to power the Forge. Along this 600 mile long route is an array of super-heavy Titan-killing defensive weaponry to deter any foolish enough to disrupt its power source.[2]

Said to have been constructed by Ferrus Manus himself, the vault contains a trove of ancient technology. Most notable of these artefacts are STC fragments that are said to have a coded message and schematic for Manus' inheritance. However attempts to repair and communicate with the STC have failed over the long millennia. The Gorgon's Forge also houses many of the Chapter's Dreadnoughts.[1]

Custodianship of the Forge is overseen by Clan Haarmek, which will viciously pursue any who dares to try and steal one of its relics. In recent years attempts have increased, such as raids by the Dark Eldar of the Kabal of the Bladed Lotus. However these raids have failed in the face of the fearsome defences of the Forge.[1]
