Porter
Porter is a descendant of Fabius Bile's New Men, a mutant variant of humanity designed by Fabius to ultimately usurp standard humans.[1f]
She is a mutant warrior whose race is designed to surpass and replace humanity. Porter is in awe of her master and creator, Fabius Bile, and serves him as a fierce bodyguard and deadly assassin.[1a]
Porter reveres Bile as her maker and came to him to serve as his protector. Bile hopes she will someday become confident enough to reach the potential he sees in her. Although Bile doesn't see Porter as his progeny, he does praise her and attempt to coax out her true potential: to ultimately lead Bile's New Men, replacing humanity, and inevitably kill him in the process.[1a]
Fabius Bile
Fabius Bile is often referred to by Porter as "my Lord", "my master", or "my maker". The two share a rapport akin to a familial relationship, of sorts. Porter views him with awe, willing to give her life for his on instinct and is angered by any perceived slight against him.[1a] She reveres him as both perfect and her creator.[1b]
Bile sees Porter as far more elegant and powerful creation than his Gland Hounds. When Porter came to Fabius his hope was rekindled. He looks forward to the day that they will inevitably kill and supplant him, seeing it as the natural way of things. Bile sees much potential in her and hopes she will overcome her perturbations and supplant him, leading his New Men to take the galaxy.[1a] Fabius is fond of Porter and it isn't uncommon for Fabius to praise her. He is so fond of her he almost views her as progeny.[1f]
Although Fabius admits to seeing some of his creations as almost like progeny, Fabius still seeks to guide her growth so that she might reach her full potential. He believes curiosity should be encouraged. Children must outgrow their parents, or else they were lost.[1b]
History
Porter was not created by Fabius but her ancestors were. Her people would improve upon the genetic artistry of Fabius Bile's New Men. Fabius and First-Among-Equals agree she is a masterwork and Fabius believes she is the key to his great work, being the New Men.[1c]
Porter would enter Bile's service at some point in M42.[1a] The Fabius and Porter would be constant companions, alongside Petros the Bezoar for some time.[1f]
During Fabius Bile's raid of the Zar-Quaesitor, Porter and Bile would face off against Alpha Primus, after Brutus softened him up. Porter would ambush Primus before he could engage her master.[1e] Porter initiated the ambush by hurling a metal javelin at Primus's back before quickly engaging him in melee. Dodging the Primaris Marine's melee attacks, Bile would cheer on his creation from the sidelines, however, she would be eventually be sent reeling by a blow to her sternum. This blow would have instantly killed a base-line human, but she survived thanks to her many biological gifts. She would again take Primus by surprise even with the bones of her ribcage grinding against one another. Like a rabid animal, she leaped onto Primus' back and clawed at him, eventually removing the Space Marine's helmet. This was the opportunity Bile had been waiting for. Primus's flesh exposed made him vulnerable to the potent sedatives of his Powerful sedatives were concocted by Bile's Chirurgeon, loaded into his Xyclos Needler, and a shower of tiny needles would incapacitate the first Primaris Marine. Once Bile extracted the one of the Primaris Marine's progenoid glands, Porter and her creator would leave the Adeptus Mechanicus vessel aboard Butcher-Bird and return to the Vesalius.[1f]
Physiology and Abilities
Although Porter looks more like an alien than a human, she remains the latter, if heavily gene-altered. Black scutes cover her body, spiracles lined her neck, large eyes protected by subsidiary lids; but she is still human, after a fashion. She has little need for breathing gear in most circumstances. In thin atmospheres, her engineered respiratory system wrings every drop of sustenance from the air.[1a] Her neck has breathing spiracles and he skin is covered in bony armoured scutes.[1f] Alongside the shiny scutes protecting her from head to foot, her eyes also have secondary membranes to protect her eyes. One role this secondary membrane fulfils is protecting the eyes from ultraviolet radiation.[1a]
She is capable of running 40 miles per hour and can throw a javelin with comparable speed to a bullet.[1f] Double musculature allows for Porter to act with explosive speed and agility. Consciously able to increase the speed of her heart string, she can rapidly pump hyper-oxygenated blood throughout her body at will. Doing so increases her metabolism to the point that she gains chronoception, slowing her perception of time. As her hydrostatic muscles are filled with blood, and chronoception stretched, she can act with super-human strength and speed. This burns her metabolism hot with effort. In response, cooling vanes in her intercostal space open, making her joints ache. These flood with blood that is then whisked away to vestibular heat exchanges near her thoracic spine. The resultant hot air is vented from her breathing spiracles.[1d] Her blood tends to be darker than base-line human blood.[1f]
Rather than teeth, Porter has sheering plates behind her lips.[1b]
Porter has psy-organs that partially ward off the Warp. Porter has a sense of queasiness while these organs are in effect.[1d]
