"It would take a thousand clichés to describe the Warmaster, each one truer than the last."[1b]

"I was there the day that Horus fell."[1g]

Petronella Vivar, Palatina Majoria of House Carpinus, was a remembrancer during the Great Crusade and in the early days of the Horus Heresy.[1a]

Biography

Her family were well known for documenting the beginning of the Emperor's unification of Terra and the quest to find the Primarchs, which gave her unusual prestige compared to other remembrancers: their wealth and social status as nobles ensure powerful connections, including the office of Malcador the Sigillite.[1c][1d][1e]

Vivar arrived to the 63rd Expeditionary Force later than the other remembrancers together with her personal bodyguard Maggard. Her goal was to become Warmaster Horus's personal remembrancer, a position which Horus was inclined to give her.[1e]

She followed the Imperial forces down to the Battle of Davin's Moon, but her skiff was shot down by the Imperator Titan Dies Irae as it did not have a military transponder signal. Maggard and she were the only survivors, the bodyguard defending her against the Plague Zombies that had been coming out of the moon's mires, until the Luna Wolves rescued them.[1f] She similarly survived the battle around the crashed ship Glory of Terra, and was by the Warmaster's side when the wound he sustained in his duel with Eugan Temba brought him down.[1g]

As Horus lay between life and death aboard the Vengeful Spirit, he dictated his valediction to her, revealing his innermost secrets.[1h]

She was later killed by Horus himself aboard the Vengeful Spirit.[1i] Whether this was to ensure that the secrets Horus revealed would remain so, or a reward for Maggard's service to him, is unclear.[2]
