The Storm of Metal began in the aftermath of the Great Rift's creation, when the influx of Chaos energy it unleashed triggered anti-Warp protocols in every Necron Tomb World. Many of these are dormant Tomb Worlds that were colonized by the Imperium and as they began to awaken, the Necron fell upon the unknowing invaders. Panic rose amongst the Forge Worlds impacted by the Storm of Metal, as they had already been dealing with external invasions since the Great Rift's creation and now had to deal with an internal Necron invasion as well. For the Necrons however, the Storm of Metal saw the return of a foe long thought defeated, as the infamous Technomandrites of Magistrakh returned once again.[1]
