Noa Vadim was a Guardsman of the Tanith First and Only regiment.[1a]
Biography
Verghast
Vadim was originally a citizen of Vervunhive on the planet Verghast. Prior to the Siege of Vervunhive, he worked as a roofer on the hive's Main Spine, which gave him valuable expertise for working at high altitudes without safety equipment.[1a]
After the Siege of Vervunhive was ended, Vervunhive had been reduced to ruins. Warmaster Macaroth allowed any surviving Vervunhiver to enlist with the Astra Militarum and reinforce one of the regiments fighting in the Sabbat Worlds Crusade. Vadim took the offer and was drafted into the Tanith First.[1a]

Vadim's head for heights came in handy for the regiment's deployment on Phantine; due to the fact that Phantine's cities were perched atop mountain peaks above a layer of pollution, many of the Militarum operations on the planet involved aerial combat drops.[1a]
During the assault on the city of Cirenholm, the drop-ship Vadim's squad was on was shot down and crash landed on the exterior of the city's secondary dome.[1b][1c] As the survivors of the crash regrouped, Vadim was responsible for rescuing a number of Guardsmen who had slid off the roof in the chaos and had been caught by their ropes snagging on protrusions just over the edge of the dome.[1c]
Following the taking of Cirenholm, Vadim was selected personally by Colonel-Commissar Ibram Gaunt as one of sixteen Tanith Guardsmen assigned to Operation Larisel, the mission to infiltrate the city of Ouranberg and assassinate Sagittar Slaith, the commander of the Blood Pact forces active on Phantine.[1d]
