Aleckto Kirhane
Aleckto Kirhane was a Legionary of the Raven Guard Legion, belonging to the First Recon Detachment of the 7th Chapter and later on, a member of the Disciples of the Flame during the Horus Heresy.[2c]
History
Kirhane fought in the Drop Site Massacre alongside the Raven Guard forces and was one of the few survivors of the 7th Chapter. During that desperate battle, Kirhane lost his leg in the fighting and was taken to a Loyalist medicae encampment. There, surrounded by other wounded Loyalists, he could do nothing as the battle raged around him, but his salvation came when the Salamanders' Thunderhawk Ohidoran appeared. Against all odds, the Ohidoran had braved the traitors' fire and landed near the encampment, one of the few Loyalist Thunderhawks to reach Isstvan V's surface, though at the cost of its pilot's life. Acting quickly, the encampment filled the Ohidoran beyond its capacity with the medicae's most seriously wounded while the vessel's former occupants chose to die with their brothers on the battlefield and allow the walking wounded to escape. Afterwards, Kirhane himself piloted the Thunderhawk, using all of his skill to evade the traitors' fire and managed to reach the safety of the Cruiser Warlock - one of the few Loyalist ships that escaped the traitors' warfleets - carrying thirty-eight wounded Salamanders, seventeen Raven Guard and three Iron Hands from the massacre.[1][2c]
Later on, the ship was caught in the swirling realm of the Warp, the Warlock and its passengers were consigned to a long and treacherous odyssey as they sought a bastion of those still loyal. After seven months of voyaging on the malicious tides of the Warp, the Warlock finally came to rest at Baal, finding at last a world where loyal servants of the Emperor still held true to their vows. Yet, though it provided refuge from Horus' onslaught, it granted the survivors of Isstvan no succour. As Baal was preparing for any attack from the traitor forces, the Salamanders Strike Cruiser Ebon Drake arrived at the Blood Angels' homeworld, the commanding officer, Chaplain-Lieutenant Xiaphas Jurr asked for volunteers to accompany him on his mission to find the Primarch Vulkan. Kirhane joined the Ebon Drake's crew alongside the survivors from the Ohidoran and accompanied Jurr on his journey to Isstvan V.[2a][2c]
Kirhane later took part in the Siege of Mezoa, defending the Norn regents of Mezoa alongside his fellow Raven Guard.[2b]
