Ashkhelon III was an Imperial world.[1]

History

Originally settled by humans during the Dark Age of Technology, its denizens were reduced to primitive scavengers. Nonetheless the planet maintained a large amount of Archaeotech, which made it a valuable target for the growing Imperium during the Great Crusade. The planet was easily assimilated into the Imperium by the 76th Expeditionary Fleet. Many Imperial excavation teams landed on the world in search of valuable technology.[1]

However, the excavation teams eventually awoke an ancient malicious Artificial Intelligence, which was able to capture the planets population and create an army of self-replicating machines. In the Battle of Ashkhelon, the AI was defeated by the Space Wolves and their Mechanicum allies.[1]

In the aftermath of the incident, Ashkhelon was quarantined by the Imperium and remains a dead world.[1]
