Uhlren's Pox
Uhlren's Pox (also - blood-froth)[2] is a disease, whose first symptoms include eruptions of red spots.[1]
The disease first appeared on Genovingia during the Genovingia Campaign. The name comes from the first diseased person - Gustaf Uhlren, color-sergeant of the Fifteenth Mordian.[2]
A disease of the body and vitality, highly contagious, Uhlren's Pox corrupts from within, thickening the circulating fluids and dissolving the marrow while appearing on the victim's skin as hideous cysts and buboes. The cycle between infection and death is no more than four days. In later stages, organs rupture, blood leaks through the pores of the skin, and the victim becomes totally mad. Some even suggest that at this stage the soul itself is dissolves. Death is inevitable in almost every case.[2]
After manifesting itself on the planet Genovingia, just a month later the death toll was already twenty people per day. No antibiotics or other treatments helped with the disease. But the worst thing is that despite strict quarantine and strict control methods, the infection quickly spread to other planets. During the second month of the epidemic, Warmaster Rhyngold and his staff decided that the campaign was in danger of failure. In the third month the disease had already spread to Genovingia Minor, Lorches and Adamanaxer Delta. By this time, Uhlren’s Pox had emerged among the local population of Genovingia itself and the Administratum had issued a Proclamation of Pandemic.[2]
Then one of the high medicae - Administrator Medica Lenid Vammel expressed the opinion that the symptoms and course of the disease were similar to Torment, which broke out on Pirody. Alas the archives contained too little information about the circumstances of the outbreak of this epidemic. As a result of the discussion, it was decided to go in search of potential survivors to find out how this plague was curbed. In particular, Administrator Medica Lemual Sark went to Symbal Iota planet to talk with Colonel Ebhoe, who knows the details of those events. Ebhoe told him that the epidemic was only defeated when its creator, - a fallen Apothecary of the Doom Eagles Subjunctus Valis - was dead and all his virus samples were destroyed.[2]
Lemual Sark hurried back to Genovingia. Just like the Torment, Uhlren's Pox was the Archenemy's malady. Thanks to the information received by Lemual, it was possible to identify the source of the infection - 52 medical officers turned out to be the vectors and spreaders of this disease. They were all executed and burned, and after their deaths, the pandemic began to fade away.[2]
