Vrokhorn

History

He was among the Traitor Legion's forces that were left to defend their Homeworld, Barbarus, while their Primarch Mortarion led the bulk of the Death Guard into the Solar War. The last message the Primarch sent to the garrison, before entering the Warp with his fleet in 013.M31, was to defend their Homeworld from all threats at any cost. Any attempts to ascertain details further were met with ominous silence, so Vrokhorn heeded Mortarion's last standing order. This led the Castellan-Praetor to enact a brutal campaign of forced-recruitment and accelerated implantation, to reinforce the number of Legionaries Vrokhorn commanded. This depleted the populations of the Traitor Legion's Fief-worlds around Barbarus and consigned the once-mighty realm of the Death Guard to wither away and fall into ruin.[1a]

When Mortarion's whereabouts became unaccounted for, the Sons of Horus sent the emissary Arbras Haax to Barbarus in search of answers. Vrokhorn and the garrison's other officers could give Haax no answers, nor would they explain why the Death Guard were recruiting so many new members into their Legion. Though the emissary had not discovered Mortarion's fate, Haax was forced to remain upon Barbarus as a conduit for his Warmaster's will.[1b] Later in that same year, Death Guard raiding parties deployed by the garrison clashed with a fleet of Space Wolves. This was just the vanguard of a Loyalist armada and thanks to the warning, Vrokhorn was able to ready Barbarus' defences before the attack began.[1c] However despite this, the Dark Angels-led armada easily stormed through the Barbarus System and then invaded the Death Guard's Homeworld.[1d]
