Arbras Haax

Arbras Haax was a Sons of Horus Justaerin Captain, during the Horus Heresy and also served as Warmaster Horus' emissary to the Death Guard.[1b]

History

This occurred in 13.M31, when the Primarch Mortarion and the bulk of the Death Guard became unaccounted for, after entering the Warp to take part in the Solar War. In response, Haax was sent to the Traitor Legion's Homeworld, Barbarus, to investigate their absence. The Captain was accompanied by an elite contingent of the Sons of Horus and upon his arrival, Haax finds the world's garrison to be heavily engaged in a bloody campaign of enforced conscription. When questioned by the Justaerin Captain, however, the Death Guard can not ascertain Mortarion or their Legion's fate[1b]. Vrokhorn[1a] and the garrison's other commanding officers are also not forthcoming, as to why they are in such a heightened state of activity. Though he did not discover any answers, Haax was forced to remain upon Barbarus as a conduit for the Warmaster's will. The Captain was also ordered to bring harsh censure upon the Death Guard, should they be foolish enough to defy the will of the Warmaster as he stood on the threshold of victory[1b]. This would lead Haax and his forces to take part in defending Barbarus, when the Dark Angels led a Loyalist invasion of the world.[1c]

The Loyalists would subsequently conquer Barbarus and the Traitors defending it were killed.[2]

Canon Conflict

White Dwarf 478 states that Arbras Haax is the Sons of Horus' emissary to Barbarus[1b]. However White Dwarf 481 states that Volkus Goraddin holds that position.[2]
