A Stellar Lab-Torpedo, Lumin-Exol IX, orbits the System's Star and uses its Adamantium hull and Void Shields to research the star from below the outer-photosphere.[8]
History
During the Great Crusade, the world was garrisoned by a force of Blood Angels who oversaw a productive mining operation. Ultimately joined by Iron Hands allies in the Horus Heresy, they fought their former Sons of Horus brothers to mutual annihilation during the Death of Canopus, when the Iron Hands detonated a nuclear weapon to destroy both armies.[2]
During the Heresy of Numbers, a bitter civil war within the Ecclesiarchy, the planet's Ministorum officials were evacuated, but Lost in the Warp. Only a psyker, Rybel Gorth, saved their knowledge from loss by using his powers to pull their minds into his own and transcribing their memories. The Ecclesiarchy considered him a Saint for this act.[7]
Military
The 9th Canopus Engineers are a Heavy Foot Regiment of highly trained body of veteran Imperial Guardsmen. They are masters of fortification and siege warfare with a reputation for professionalism and coolness under fire.[3] It has supporting elements of light armor and mechanized infantry including a number of Chimera APCs and Salamander Command Vehicles.[4]
