Cenna Syckava
Cenna Syckava was a Sergeant of the Elysian Drop Troops.[1]
Biography
He was first conscripted into the Elysian Drop Troops during the invasion of Elysia after the formation of the Great Rift. Originally in the 303rd Elysian Drop Troops Regiment, known as the Cratermakers, he went on to serve in Battlegroup Chorasine during the Indomitus Crusade.[1]
He fought in airborne operations on Kappa VI against Chaos Space Marines, being one of only 60 troopers who successfully reached their landing zone alive. With his company in disarray and its officers all dead, Syckava organized a defence that fended off waves of Cultist attackers. When reinforcements arrived they discovered the wounded Syckava and his troopers surrounded by a pile of enemy dead.[1]
He went on to serve in battle after battle, fighting Orks at Ferghora. At Issulgat, he is said to have taken up the Sniper Rifle of a fallen comrade and used it to put down an Eldar Farseer. The Commissariat and Ecclesiarchy soon saw the value of using Syckava for propaganda purposes, advertising his exploits across the Crusade. In time he ascended to a mythical warrior known simply as the Trooper Triumphant.[1]
Rumors quickly spread as to who the Trooper Triumphant could be. There were individuals among Fleet Sextus who knew that the Adeptus Custodes had descended on Elysia to shatter the traitors. Speculations on any connection were quickly stifled when a group of Custodian Guard abruptly attached themselves to Battlegroup Chorasine. The golden warriors were seen fighting through at least three war zones, never straying far from Syckava’s platoon, but also never fighting alongside them. Ultimately, Syckava fell defending the Shrinefort of Saint Grel Ap Mhorg against heretic forces. Posthumous litanies described his bravery and selflessness in buying time for Battle Sisters of the Order of the Grey Spear to launch a counterattack. Whatever interest the Custodes had in Syckava was never discovered, but they were never seen in Battlegroup Chorasine again. In fact they had redeployed two days before his death, leaving as abruptly as they had arrived.[1]
