Cerabas Crusade
The Cerabas Crusade was an Imperial Crusade that was set to launch into the Cerabas Sub-sector, until it was devastated by the Great Rift's creation.[1]
History
The birth of the giant Warp Storm unleashed a shock wave, that smashed into the Crusade as it was en route to the Cerabas Sub-sector. The impact caused the Crusade to lose half of its fleet, either by being destroyed or flung millions of miles off course. The remaining half of the Cerabas Crusade was forced out of the Warp and found itself marooned in an unknown Imperial System. Its personnel was left traumatized by their ordeal, but this was just the start of the horrors they would face. Soon afterwards, Mutations struck the bulk of the Crusade's surviving Astra Militarum Regiments and caused severe losses. The Cerabas Crusade was then attacked by Ork Freebooters, who emerged from the System's asteroid belt. Ten full Regiments would later end the Xenos' threat, by desperately boarding and scuttling the Ork's flagship. The Crusade had barely seen off the Orks' attack, when it received a weak distress call from the nearby Abattoir World Klot. It needed aid, after a heretical Slaughter Cult had emerged from Klot's meat factories and once more the Crusade's battle-weary Regiments went to war. The conflict became known as the Butcher's War, for it was nightmarishly bloody and savage. The fighting is still ongoing, but the Styxx 777th has been redeployed to Moroch. However it suffered so many casualties on Klot, that the remnants of several Regiments were sent to replenish the Styxx's ranks. The War also caused such trauma, that it planted the seeds of Heresy within some of the 777th's Guardsmen. This allowed the Alpha Legion's agents to corrupt the Styxx 777th into a Traitor Guard Regiment, before it reached the Frontier World.[1]
