Gigar is a world of the Sabbat Worlds Cluster[1a] notable for its promethium reserves.[1c]

History

At one point, Gigar was subjugated by divisions of the Blood Pact under Sagittar Slaith. For eight weeks, Slaith's slavers forced the promethium workers to toil around the clock to provide fuel for the Chaos armies. To ensure productivity, every time a labourer slackened, Slaith set loose his hate-dog cyber-mastiffs to feast on twenty individuals. By the end, Slaith's methods had yielded enough promethium to fuel sixty regiments of Blood Pact for over a year.[1c]

In 771.M41[1b], during the Sabbat Worlds Crusade, Warmaster Macaroth's offensive on the Cabal System stalled. This left the Crusade's forces overextended, allowing the Chaos Warlord Orlock Gaur to lead attacks on multiple planets along the Crusade's coreward flank in an effort to disrupt the Crusade's supply lines. Macaroth was forced to hastily redeploy significant elements of the Crusade's spinward flank to open up new supply lines. Gigar was one of the primary targets of Macaroth's gambit, due to its rich reserves of promethium.[1a]

Notes

  • Note 1: This is the position on the galactic map of Urdesh[2][3], a Forge World located in the Sabbat Worlds.[1a] Given the size of a sector of space relative to the galaxy, it is reasonable to presume that the rest of the Sabbat Worlds would be in roughly the same position as well.
