Ysica was the latest assumed name of a Human who served as an agent for Abaddon the Despoiler on Terra, for thousands of years.[1]

History

She was charged with gathering information and creating Chaos Cults which would help pave the way for Abaddon's invasion of Terra. Ysica was also tasked with observing the Adeptus Custodes in order to determine if they would be able to stop the Despoiler's forces. Once on Terra, Ysica began working for corrupt and influential Noble Lords and secretly used their resources to carry out her orders. She would change employers when needed, as the years and then millennia passed, and worked for the Noble House Sleox shortly before the Great Rift's creation. Ysica served as a personal aide to the current Lord of Sleox, whose commercial empire was a front used to mask the House's criminal activities. However one day, Lord Sleox feared the Adeptus Arbites had discovered the House's wrong doings and thought he was about to be apprehended. The only way Sleox knew how to prevent that from happening, was to escape to the Imperial world Geres, where those seeking to lay low and evade the Imperium's grasp go to hide. Acting quickly, he immediately tasked Ysica with sending orders to have the House's starship, Hervol, prepared for launch and securing a lander that would take them to the ship. By that time, Ysica felt she had completed her work for Abaddon and so joined Lord Sleox, as he fled in a Groundcar from the House's mansion. They both successfully reached the lander, but as it began to fly into space, Sleox was suddenly killed by the hidden Adeptus Custodes Ephoroi Navradaran. The Ephoroi had been lying in wait to capture his target, who was not Sleox, but Ysica - a fact she knew as soon as she saw Navradaran.[1]

Seven months earlier, the Custodes' Tarot seers had found an anomaly during a reading, which signified a threat to the Emperor. The subsequent investigation into the anomaly revealed Ysica's existence and the Custodes soon unraveled that she worked for Abaddon the Despoiler. They also learned about some of the activities she had conducted on Terra for the Despoiler's behalf. Navradaran explained all this to Ysica and called her a traitor to Mankind. He then said the Cults she created were currently being destroyed and there was no way for her to escape to safety. He demanded that Ysica tell him everything she had done on Terra, in order to spare her from having to be tortured for her information and to unburden her soul. Ysica refused, though, and stated that while the Imperium may destroy some of her Cults, they would not discover all the ones she created over the millennia. Ysica then claimed it was too late to stop Abaddon's next attack on the Imperium, nor were the now stunted Custodes watchdogs, ready to prevent the invasion of Terra. Ysica gleefully told Navradaran that she had personally informed Abaddon of this fact and then tried to kill herself with a hidden blade. Navradaran, however, stopped her from succeeding and Ysica was then taken aboard a Custodes ship and was tortured. This caused Ysica to give a full confession of her crimes and she was later executed. After reading her transcribed confession, Captain-General Valoris told Navradaran they needed to speed up the process of assembling the wayward Sisters of Silence on Terra.[1]

Notes

Ysica no longer remembered what millennia she arrived on Terra, but knew it was before the world's toxic smog blocked the stars from appearing in its skies. It also not known how Ysica was able to live for thousands of years and yet still have a young appearance. Navradaran speculated to Captain-General Valoris, that perhaps Ysica somehow transplanted herself into different bodies, in order to extend her lifespan.[1]
