Fallen is the third volume of Warhammer 40,000 published by Titan Comics, starting with Issue #9 in August 2017.[1]

Description

Baltus and the Dark Angels encounter a squad of Chaos-hunting Grey Knights. Is Sabbathiel close to the evidence she needs to destroy the Dark Angels forever?[1]

Issue #9

Discovering evidence that, during the Horus Heresy, a rift in the ranks of the Dark Angels led to many Space Marines turning against the Emperor and becoming known as the Fallen, Sabbathiel is emboldened in her mission to expose their ancient lies. Her crew fear her zealousness will lead to their collective downfall. Meanwhile, as Baltus is inducted into the Inner Circle of the Dark Angels, his growing doubts surrounding the faithfulness of his Order cause him to question his understanding of the universe - even as he pledges to eradicate his corrupted kin. Faced with further evidence that the dark-helmed Space Marine Baltus witnessed on Exyrion has been orchestrating all of the events in the Calaphrax Cluster to date, the path bends threateningly towards a terrible, inevitable end.[5a]

Issue #10

The pursuit of the Fallen takes Baltus deeper into the secrets of his Chapter while the pursuit of the Dark Angels threatens to blind Sabbathiel to the horrors lurking elsewhere in the Calaphrax Cluster.[2]

The Fallen infiltrated a Dark Angels ship and made his presence known. This has caused distress to Altheous and Seraphus who have yet to understand his motivations. The Fallen orchestrated the events on Exyrion and Quintus, his intention being to show the brotherhood that their Emperor was false and lead them towards redemption. While the Dark Angels pondered on how to proceed, Sabbathiel called upon the Grey Knights to investigate the Dark Angels for heresy. She presented her evidence to Justicar Leofric, which includes evidence she gathered from tailing the Dark Angels to the Calaphrax Cluster. Her accusations too grand to ignore, the Justicar decides to commence investigation on the Dark Angels' ship.[5b]

Issue #11

Baltus and the Dark Angles take the war to the forces of Chaos, led by the mysterious Fallen – a relic of another age, and the walking embodiment of the Dark Angels’ great sin. Sabbathiel, meanwhile, has teamed with the daemon-hunting Grey Knights to root out the Chaos she sees deep in the heart of the whole Dark Angels chapter. Will the Dark Angels be forced to fire upon their battle brothers to keep their secret? Will the Fallen succeed in turning the Imperium against itself?[3]

Issue #12

Inquisitor Sabbathiel has backed the Dark Angels into an impossible situation – fire on their brothers or have their ancient secrets revealed to the universe. And the forces of the Fallen – and of Chaos – are ready to strike and wipe out all sides.[4]
