Tarrian

Tarrian was a Commissar and leader of the VPHC during the Siege of Vervunhive.[1a]

Biography

In the course of the Siege, a series of communications breakdowns led General Grizmund, commander of the Narmenian Armoured regiments sent to assist in the defence of Vervunhive, to disobey the deployment orders that he had been given in an attempt to get his armour to reinforce the Veyveyr Gate. The VPHC, however, intercepted Grizmund, arresting the General and his officers and sentencing them to a court-martial.[1b][1c]

The decision to punish loyal Imperial soldiers for trying to do what they could to prevent the conquest of Vervunhive by The Archenemy did not sit well with a number of the Guard's officers; most notably, Colonel-Commissar Gaunt of the Tanith First and Only tried to have the trial overturned, even against the wishes of the ranking Guard commander, General Sturm, who had been hesitant to enforce sanctions on Vervunhive's leaders and the VPHC for the sake of diplomacy.[1c][1d] By this point, however, the Siege's situation had become grim enough that even Sturm agreed to release Grizmund. Tarrian tried to have Grizmund and his men executed before Sturm could intervene, but was gunned down by Colonel Gilbear of the Royal Volpone.[1d][1e]
