Targus Campaign

In 862.M41 a massive Ork force lead by Warboss Skullkrak invaded the Targus system. In response, Imperium deployed its own forces, that included Raven Guard 3rd company, lead by Shadow Captain Kayvaan Shrike.[2] Tasked with elimination of the Orks' orbital defences on Targus VIII, Shrike's force accomplished their mission, only to become stranded when their extraction Thunderhawk was destroyed in near orbit. Undaunted by his predicament, Shrike lead a campaign of destructive havoc behind Ork lines. For two years his forces struck at vulnerable enemy positions while providing targeting and intelligence data to orbiting naval vessels. He inflicted heavy damage on the invading forces and earned a name for himself, hailed as a hero in the aftermath of the campaign.[2b]

War rages on

Forces of Skullkrak continued to invade numerous Imperial worlds, such as Aldeb, Suphuron and many others, engaging in conflicts with the combined armies of Imperial Guard and Imperial Navy. Kayvaan Shrike became a true hero of the campaign, fighting the Orks on dozens of planets and praised as a saviour after his assaults on Ork conquests in the Donara and Yakhee systems. Motivated by his heroic example, forces of the Imperium fought the Orks across the worlds of the sector.[2b] However, at some point before 966.M41 Shrike's strike force was recalled due to the growing threat of Waaagh! Garaghak and the remaining forces were forced to deal with the threat of Skullkrak on their own.[4b] The Orks pressed on and in 997.M41 Targus' Home Warden force was all but wiped out in battle. Agents of the Administratum decided to study the threat before deploying any more reinforcements.[1]

Battle of Fordris

Main article: Battle of Fordris

To tip the balance in ongoing war in his favour, Skullkrak lead his boyz to the ghost world of Fordris pursuing rumours of ancient weaponry. However, he was to discover that Fordris was inhabited by Necrons. In the following battle many Orks were killed, including Skullkrak himself and the battle was lost by the Orks. The impact of Skullkrak's demise on his Waaagh! remains unknown.[3]
