Mindslayers are a type of psychic Tyranid Bioship, which were unleashed during the Fourth Tyrannic War.[1]

Description

They are gangling vessels that boast pulsating cerebral nodes the size of an Imperial Frigate and trail masses of spindly black tendrils behind them. Mindslayers however earned their names due to giving off psychic attacks that cause crippling paranoia, terrifying hallucinations and smothering psychostatic to the enemy crews of any ships they are near. The ghastly bioships can also spawn waves of psychic warrior organisms, which the Mindslayers can directly deposit on a world.[1]

They were first encountered by the Imperium when Hive Fleet Grendyllus invaded the Kastayl System, during the Fourth Tyrannic War. Though the Imperial warships defending the System had managed to destroy seven waves of bioships, the eighth contained numerous Mindslayers. No one had yet encountered these vessels, so the Imperial warships were unprepared for the Mindslayers' psychic attacks, which quickly earned them their names. Thanks to the psychic bioships, the Imperial fleet's defense was broken and the Mindslayers then aided in securing footholds on several of Kastayl's worlds by depositing hordes of psychic warriors organisms.[1]
