The 16th Armageddon Steel Legion "Tank-Stormers"[2] was active during the Lortham Crusade and the Cassell Rebellion. During the Cassell Rebellion, also known as the Six Hour Revolution, the 16th acted swiftly to bring down the Supreme Pontifex Sklain who had led the world into rebellion against the Imperium.

Battle of Port Cassell

A Hellhound and Chimera of the 16th push through enemy defences at Port Cassell.[1]

Cassell, being an Agri World, had only one major city: Port Cassell. When the Supreme Pontifex's rebellion was revealed Colonel Kleist ordered his regiment to immediately take the city. Kleist took personal command of the assault.[1]

When the 16th reached the city's gates they found them poorly defended. The 16th punched right through the gate, their Chimera and Hellhound tanks shrugging off the ineffective lasgun and stubber fire of the defenders. The majority of the regiment continued to the main Palace with just a single platoon left to secure the gate.[1]

At the Palace the Supreme Pontifex's bodyguards had the planet's only armoured vehicle, an aged Leman Russ Battle Tank. The Leman Russ crew had not yet managed to start the tank's engine when the lead elements of the 16th arrived at the Palace. Kleist's personal Chimera charged straight at the Leman Russ, distracting its crew, before a lascannon heavy weapons team inside swung open the Chimera's top hatch and scored a kill shot on the Leman Russ.[1]

The rest of the Supreme Pontifex's forces surrendered soon after, and the Pontifex himself was captured after only a brief firefight. From the moment Kleist learnt of the Pontifex's rebellion until he was captured, only six hours had passed.[1]
