Artekus Bardane is the current Chapter Master of the Relictors.[2]

History

A fierce warrior, Bardane was the son of a chieftain on the Relictors' homeworld and learned the art of war at an early age. After displaying combat prowess that allowed him to best rival chieftains easily, he was chosen by the Librarians of the Chapter to be initiated into the Relictors. He quickly rose through the ranks of the Chapter, accepting each new mystery revealed to him by the Relictors Conclave with ease. His skill in mastering the weapons and artifacts of Chaos led to his command of a company that penetrated deep into the Eye of Terror to capture Chaos weaponry.[1]

On the Daemon World of Eidolon, Artekus defeated a mighty Champion of Slaanesh, taking up his accursed weapon and using it to destroy the rest of the Slaaneshi warlord's warband. He later placed the weapon, known as the Screaming Flail, in a stasis capsule in the heart of the Relictors' Fortress-Monastery. Artekus Bardane continued to serve with great distinction, earning higher ranks and more of the Chapter's secrets with them. After destroying the Cult of the Scarlet Vein in a bloody battle which only he himself survived, Bardane was finally elevated to the rank of Chapter Master at the recommendation of his predecessor, who was mortally wounded in the final battle against the Cult.[1]

During the Third War for Armageddon, Bardane mobilized his entire Chapter to battle the Orks. Artekus led his men deep into the equatorial jungles of Armageddon which held Angron's Monolith - a monoument of Angron erected during the first war for the planet, where he believed the greatest potential lay for the study of Chaos. Throughout the entire war the Relictors remained in these jungles, famously refusing even the personal commands of Dante of the Blood Angels to aid the war effort. Even the Relictors Librarians claimed to have had a vision of a giant eye dripping with blood, and Artekus immediately withdrew his chapter from the warzone and journeyed towards the Eye of Terror.[1]
