Gzrel
Gzrel was Chaos Lord of the Khorneate warband known as The Harrowing.
History
Gzrel's preferred tactics included the use of mutants; all of the Chaos Space Marines in his warband were changed by minor warp mutations, a lesser version of Possessed Marines.[1x] Gzrel also used slave beasts as trackers and attack dogs.[1x]
Despite Khorne's traditional hatred of sorcery, Gzrel used several Chaos Sorcerers in his warband, keeping four as his inner circle: Xiatsis, Cottadaron, Horkos and Maroth, the last of whom was Gzrel's High Magister and second-in-command of The Harrowing.[1x]
After a recent victory over a Renegade Space Marine chapter and the take-over of their ship, the Titan Child, Gzrel and the Harrowing were approached by an emissary from a renegade Thousand Sons warband. The emissary, Tolbek, quickly realized that "Horkos" was in fact Ahzek Ahriman, his former brother, in disguise. Conversing with Ahriman via telepathy, Tolbek asked Ahriman to come with him. When Ahriman refused, Tolbek attacked. Ahriman's long-disused psychic abilities were awoken, and he killed Tolbek, along with killed Gzrel and two of his pet sorcerers, leaving only Maroth alive.[1a]
Ahriman then proceeded to free the survivors of the renegade chapter and Tech Priest Carmenta, who killed the rest of the Harrowing and took back the Titan Child, before fleeing the sector.[1b]
