History
Like many in his Dynasty, Akanabekh seeks to destroy all life in the Galaxy. This led him to command Kardenath's forces, as they sought to claim the Oruscar Dynasty's Celestial Orrery, which resided on the Tomb World Thanatos. The powerful relic had the power to fulfill his Dynasty's wish, but they were kept at bay by Oruscar forces, who were led by the Conclave of Celestial Guardians. They were charged by their Dynasty with defending the Orrery and the resulting siege between Kardenath and Oruscar has lasted for centuries.[2]
In late M41, however, the Phaeron was approached by Trazyn the Infinite, who wished to form an alliance in order to bring the conflict to an end. In return for Akanabekh ordering his forces to make a frenzied attack on the walls defending the Orrery, Trazyn would sneak into the Conclave's chambers with the Phaeron hidden within a Tesseract Labyrinth. The Overlord would then unleash Akanabekh, so that he could finally seize the Orrery, after Trazyn made use of it. The Overlord, though, would also ensure that his Tomb World, Solemnace, escaped the Phaeron's genocidal purge - which Akanabekh reluctantly agreed to. However while the Phaeron kept his end of the bargain, Trazyn would not do so.[2]
This was after the Conclave gave into Trazyn's demands to use the Orrery, after he threatened to unleash Akanabekh from the Labyrinth and the Overlord's own personal Deathmark, aimed its Synaptic Disintegrator at the Conclave's leader, Dzukar. Doing so, allowed Trazyn to see the coming Thirteenth Black Crusade and its attack on Cadia, as well as Abaddon the Despoiler's efforts to create the Great Rift. This caused the Overlord to immediately leave Thanatos, in order to defend Cadia and prevent the Great Rift's creation. Its not known, though, if Akanabekh still remains within Trazyn's Tesseract Labyrinth.[2]
Appearance
Akanabekh is said to have a face of iron cruelty and that his body is all blades and chisel-like legs. During the Siege of Thanatos, the Phaeron's carapace had also begun to glow faintly, due to bathing in the reactor fluid of Oruscar's slain Necron.[2]
Quotes
"Your desires are irrelevant. This galaxy once knelt before us, and it will do so again."[1]
"Annihilation is beautiful because it will level us. No small and great, no phaeron and subject. Living or dead. All gone. All at peace."[2]
