Keep Extremis is a Watch Fortress located in Segmentum Obscurus.[1]
History
It became part of the Imperium Nihilus, in the wake of the Great Rift's creation. Worse still, the Watch Fortress was now located close to a cascade of overlapping Warp Storms and it was repeatedly attacked by Traitors. While Keep Extremis' Deathwatch forces successfully drove off all of the attacks, they suffered substantial casualties in doing so. However when the Watch Fortress later received distress calls from Vigilus, during the War of Beasts,[2a] Watch Captain Tannister was sent to aid the Imperial world with a Watch Company. His forces were sent aboard the Strike Cruiser Remorseless, but when they arrived there, it received distress calls from across the Vigilus System. These included the Death World Falsehood and the Moon Neo-vellum, which was sent by the Ordo Xenos Inquisitor Lysette Astromar. Tannister reacted to this new development by splitting his Company into its individual Kill-Teams and sending them to answer each distress call.[2b]
