Razorfiends are large [[cruiser|cruisers]] that are aggressive in their attacks, storming out from the hive fleet in response to any threat to the massive hive ships, often using claws and tentacles to make direct attacks on ships in an effort to physically smash them to pieces. Cruiser sized Tyranid bioships are seldom found far from the hive ship, however, and it has been

theorised that they receive their nourishment from them in some manner.3

Tyranid Bio-ships descend on unclaimed territories[6]

Bio-ships are the living spacecraft making up the Tyranid Hive Fleets.[1] The term encompasses all voidcraft bioforms of the Tyranids.[Needs Citation]

Overview

Although bio-ships take on a seemingly endless variety of forms, they are broadly divided by the Imperium into several major classes depending on its general role in the Hive Fleet. The ships are also factories producing the different Species of Tyranid used in ground invasions. The ships themselves are essentially the largest species of Tyranid and are controlled by the Hive Mind.

The Squats of the Leagues of Votann have discovered that the organic material of certain parts of Bio-Ships can be rendered into rare and exotic chemical compounds. This has led to many Hernkyn cells into hunting the ships in order to harvest them.[4]

Bio-ships are corruptible by the Obliterator Virus, infesting their neural pathway and severing them from the Hive Mind. A corrupted bio-ship is then further modified by specially created machinery produced in the Eye of Terror that mixes organic components with ancient, physics-defying technology. These modifications allow for control of the bio-ship, so that it can be pressed into Chaos service as an enslaved Titan transporter.[5]
