Honoria is an Ice World of the Imperium, located at the fringes of Segmentum Obscurus.[1b]

History

Honoria was isolated during the Age of Strife and regressed to an extremely primitive level. The Explorator Fleets of the Imperium reestablished contact during the Great Crusade, designating the world 27-21 and bringing the tribes of the world gifts of languages and technology.[1a]

During the Horus Heresy, a Space Marine gunship crash-landed on the planet. A group of tribespeople found the downed craft, discovering that most of the marines were dead. The last marine, however, was able to impart a message to the people just before he died: "Prepare for war".[1a]

Some time after that, the planet was cut off from the Imperium by Warp Storms.[1b] Yet the message of the dying Space Marine had been taken to heart. Word of the message spread, and as the civilisation on the planet developed anew, they spent the millennia fortifying their world. By M41, each city on Honoria was surrounded by vast networks of fortifications, including extremely powerful weapon emplacements, that covered over 80% of the planet's surface.[1d][1e] Eventually, the Warp Storms abated and the planet once again reestablished contact, resulting in an Adeptus Mechanicus delegation from the Forge World of Atanix Triumvirae arriving on the world.[1e] Less than two years after being reintegrated into the Imperium, Honoria was attacked by the Orks of Waaagh! Groblonik.[1b][1g]

The Imperium sent reinforcements to Honoria in order to combat the greenskins; twenty regiments each of the Vostroyan Firstborn and Mordian Iron Guard responded, as did a force of Skitarii from Atanix Triumvirae, led by Arch Magos Hieronymous Diezen.[1c][1e] The Mechanicus also invoked the Pact of Kulgotha[1b] to request aid from the Dark Angels Chapter, who sent the Fifth Company led by Master Zadakiel, along with Librarians Ezekiel and Turmiel, Apothecary Rephial, Interrogator-Chaplain Puriel and Techmarine Master Serpicus, aboard the Sword of Caliban.[1c]

The combined Imperial defenders were able to hold the capital city, Aurelianum, against successive waves of orks led by Warboss Groblonik.[1h] But the warboss had been using the doomed assaults on the city's walls as a diversion, allowing it to restart a series of forges outside the city.[1i] The orks were able to use these to churn out a massive number of vehicles which collected the corpses piled outside the walls to build crude ramps, allowing them to bypass the walls and enter the city proper.[1j] The orks rampaged through the city, but when all hope seemed lost, Ezekiel engaged in a duel with Groblonik, killing him and scattering his Waaagh!.[1k] With its death, the rest of the orks on Honoria were annihilated.[1l]
