The Battle of Srinagar was a battle during the Indomitus Crusade.[1a]

Overview

The war saw the Word Bearers under Kor Phaeron, aided by the Black Legion Sorcerer Tenebrus, raid the Astropathic Relay Station of Srinagar in a bid to discover the nature and location of the Star Child. After pushing aside the Imperial Navy vessels in orbit, Tenebrus and Pridor Vrakon led an assault of the surface to probe the minds of Astropaths there. Meanwhile in orbit, a Black Templars fleet alongside Racej Lucerne arrived, led by a vision. After a boarding operation, these were confronted by Xhokol Hruvak and his Khymerae, killing Castellan Beorhtnoth before being slain in turn by Lucerne.[1a]

Meanwhile on the surface, Word Bearers Terminators under Vrakon traded blows with Unnumbered Sons of Roboute Guilliman led by Ferren Areios. Vrakon badly wounded Areios and left him for dead, and by this point Tenebrus had discovered the location of the Star Child. Their mission achieved, the traitor forces departed.[1b]

During the battle, nearly all the Black Templars of the Angevin Crusade were slain. In the final stages of the battle Lucerne revealed to the Black Templars Chaplain Mortian that he knew the truth of their Crusade's mutiny against their previous Marshal and their massacre of a Torchbearer Fleet. This caused the Chaplain to nearly kill Lucerne, though Neophyte Botho intervened and slew the traitor instead.[1c]
