Las-Lock

Las-Lock[7]

Las-Locks are a type of Laser Weapon used by some Imperial forces.[1]

An archaic alternative to the Lascarbine, they were used by many regiments of the Imperial Army during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy.[1] Sometimes known as “blaze guns” or “las-muskets”, no two of these cobbled together and ill-made weapons are ever quite the same. Often found in the hands of desperate and poorly equipped insurgents or renegades, las-locks are usually scratch built or modifications of antique or damaged las rifles brought back into service by scav-workshops and heretek forges. Laslocks' jury-rigged capacitors are temperamental things at best, but still potent, firing a more powerful discharge than that of a standard lasgun.[3]

These weapons favour stopping power over a rapid rate of fire,[1] firing only single shots.[6] A Laslock bolt can blow straight through a victim's belly, exploding the stomach in the process, and even launch the target three metres backwards through sheer impact force.[6]

Laslocks are still in use in the modern Imperium. Some Astra Militarum regiments use las-locks are their standard form of weaponry, such as the Vostroyan 103rd regiment.[5a] Vostroyan Firstborn officers often have an axe-blade mounted to the underside of their laslock stocks. These highly prized items are passed down through their clan for generations. Even if the officer wielding it falls, other Vostroyans will attempt to carry the heirloom to safety.[5b]

Las-Locks have also been seen used by guards of an Adeptus Arbites precinct.[4]
