Harvest

Spoiler!
The following paragraphs contain spoilers for: The Tithes (Animated Series)

In the M42, the world would begin to be invaded by scout forces of an oncoming Tyranid Hive Fleet. The White Templars Space Marine chapter would make defensive preparation on the world they had sworn to protect 3 millennia prior. Captain Malakite and his White Templars would be in the midst of killing a horde of Lictors as a Sister of Silence and Custodes stand aboard their vessel in Ystrad's orbit.[1]

The League of Blackships would arrive in Ystrad's orbit no more than a week prior to the Tyranid's void-host was expected to arrive. Tyranid vanguard organisms have reached the planet's principle cities. The primary goal of Atlacoya, a member of the reconstituted Sisters of Silence, was to collect the reportedly bountiful harvest of psykers. The Custodian Tyrith Shiva Kyrus would choose to join the Silent Sister planetside to both assist in protecting the harvest, as well as for her own mission.[1]

The pair, reminiscent of the Talons of the Emperor, would arrive planetside and be greeted by a squad White Templars Battle Brothers lead by Space Marine Sergeant Zeffram. Tyrith would speak for the pair, as the Space Marines did not understand Atlacoya's Thoughtmark sign language. Tyrith had expected to speak with their Space Marine Captain directly, who was currently on the frontlines preparing the world's defences. After issuing requesting Captain Malakite be summoned, the White Templars squad would escort the pair by foot to the planet's primary holding asylum nearby. The White Templars squad would depart for the frontlines after directing the pair a portion of the way there.[1]

Collection

Upon meeting the Arbitrator supervisor of the League of Black Ships, she would inform the pair that there were currently 347 psykers being held. Atlacoya gives a blunt remark about the world's doom that only Tyrith understood and moves to inspect the condition of the prisoners in the holding cell. The psykers were growing evermore agitated from the increasing volume of the oncoming hive fleet's Shadow in the Warp, manifesting in some as deafening bestial screams within their minds.[1]

The prisoners are transported to the transport ship in a procession line and escorted by their Arbites wardens, Tyrith, and Atlacoya. As the psyker chattel progressed, one young psyker named Verin would be overwhelmed by the torture of the Shadow in the Warp. Another psyker named Atis attempted to calm the boy, but he bolted from the procession ears covered. Atlacoya would quickly pursue the escapee who stopped in a clearing and almost became overwhelmed by the Warp until Altacoya diffused the Warp energies with her inherent Psychic Null aura. Sensing a nearby Lictor, she would then defend herself and the boy.[1]

Atlacoya would immediately notify Tyrith that the xenos ambush on the procession had begun. The Arbites would hurry the prisoners to the transport as Tyranids attacked from the dense jungle undergrowth. Multiple Arbites would stand and die defending the harvest of psyker prisoners. The ambush consisted primarily of multiple lictors, as well as termagants and hormagaunts. One of the psykers was killed by a Tyranid, a significant loss compared to the deaths of multiple Arbites guarding the prisoners. One prisoner's life is worth more than all of the Arbites escort combined. Tyrith would finish off the last of the Lictors in the ambush as the last of the prisoners were fled onto the relative safety of the transport. Atlacoya would arrive with the young escapee slung over her shoulder just as Zeffram returned with their Captain Thunderhawk arrived.[1]

Orders

Kyrith would address Captain Malakite face-to-face as he exited the Thunderhawk and inform him the world was condemned to Exterminatus. She would explain this was in order to create a firebreak of lifeless worlds around the edges of Segmentum Solar, to deter the oncoming Tyranid Hive Fleet from entering said segmentum. This would preemptively deny the Tyranids biomass from their current target Ystrad and force them so seek a closer harvest of biomass upon worlds away from Terra. She would command Captain Malakite to gather his forces, leave the world, and commence Exterminatus once in orbit. Although outraged, Malakite would reluctantly accept the commandment and stain upon his honor, if not for the Custodian, then to carry out the will of the Emperor of Mankind and to protect the Golden Throne from the hungering xenos threat. Kyrith had accompanied Atlacoya to be sure these firebreak orders would be accepted and obeyed.[1]
