The Cruxis Crusade was a Black Templars Crusade, that was led by Marshal Marius Amalrich and it was among the Imperium's forces that defended Cadia, during the 13th Black Crusade.[1]

History

When the Fortress World was later destroyed by Abaddon the Despoiler, Amalrich and the surviving members of the Cruxis Crusade, were among the Imperials who attempted to escape the Cadian System aboard the warship of Archmagos Dominus. However it was attacked by the pursuing Black Legion and they were forced to evacuate to the nearby world of Kalisus. The Crusade and other Imperials then sought to protect Cawl's precious artifacts he escaped with, from the Black Legion who sought to destroy them. However they were heavily outnumbered and only managed to survive, due to the intervention of the Aeldari Xenos, who guided the surviving Imperials into one of their Webway Portals that was located on Kalisus.[1]

The Xenos then led them to the Ultramarines Homeworld, Macragge, where Cawl's artifacts were revealed to be necessary to resurrect the nearly dead Primarch Roboute Guilliman. However this was as the Black Legion was invading the world, during the Ultramar Campaign and the remnants of the Cruxis Crusade aided in defending Guilliman, whose body was located in the Fortress of Hera. While the Primarch was successfully resurrected during the battle and led the Imperials to victory there, Marshal Amalrich was the only member of the Crusade who still lived. He would take up the Cruxis Crusade's Black Sword afterwards and later died aiding Guilliman in the subsequent Terran Crusade.[2]
