Ydursk Incident
The Ydursk Incident occurred during the Horus Heresy in 13.M31, when a small contingent of the Raven Guard stealthy invaded Ydursk, which was ruled by the Tyrant-General Maylon Idar III.[1b]
History
These Raven Guard[1b] were among the Expeditionary force that was serving in the Dark Angels' campaign of vengeance against Warmaster Horus' forces. Under their Primarch Lion El'Jonson's command, the Dark Angels had destroyed many Traitor-held worlds, but his brother Corax sought to limit that number. While he did not join the campaign, Corax had sent an Expeditionary force and secretly ordered these Raven Guard to eliminate any enemy targets on worlds that were ahead of El'Jonson's onslaught. By doing so, they would save these worlds from complete annihilation at the Dark Angels' hands.[1a]
In order to carry out Corax's will, the Raven Guard on Ydursk proceeded to launch a stealth operation against Idar's Traitor Imperial Army. Despite their overwhelming numerical superiority, the Tyrant-General's forces were dismantled piece by piece in a world-wide series of coordinated strikes. The command chain of the Traitor Army was also sent into disarray, as the Raven Guard's snipers eliminated key members of Idar's inner circle. Even with the continuous attacks, the Tyrant-General and his forces were unable to determine the true nature of their foes, nor successfully trike back at them. This led Idar to consolidate his remaining forces within Ydursk's capital fortress, where he then broadcasted a call for diplomacy. The Tyrant-General asked his attackers to send an emissary to meet with him, in the grand courtyard of his palatial residence, so that they could parlay with one another. The Raven Guard replied instead with a single mass-reactive round, which put an end to Idar's reign on Ydursk. When the Dark Angels fleet later reached the world, they discovered that Ydursk was back under the Imperium's control and this spared it from El'Jonson's wrath.[1b]
