Xythera was a world of the Imperium during the Great Crusade.^[1]

History

Originally terraformed and colonized during the Dark Age of Technology, it eventually became part of the Imperium of Man. A distress signal beacon was activated on the world in 012.M31 during the Horus Heresy. Promising plunder to thwart their enemies, many warbands and Legion forces descended upon the world and set upon each other in bloody battles. Even those on the same time came to blows, such as the Iron Hands and Salamanders as well as the Iron Warriors and Emperor's Children. The last records of the war that exist tell of planetstrikes to feed troops deep into the interior of the planet and it is largely unknown what exactly transpired.^[1]
