Blood Slaughterer
The Blood Slaughterer is a Khorne Daemon Engine[1]
Description
Larger than a Castraferrum Dreadnought[2], Blood Slaughterers have a hunched, tick-like appearance and give off bestial howls that forewarn of their approach. The Daemon Engines are also armed with a multitude of monstrously large claws and blades, which make them formidable weapons on the battlefield.[1]
History
They were first reportedly encountered by the Imperium fighting at the World Eaters' sides, during the Horus Heresy. At that time, Imperial scholars believed the Blood Slaughterers had been devised as a less costly replacement for the Dreadnought losses the Traitor Legion had suffered during the Heresy. However as the conflict raged on, it became increasingly common to see the Daemon Engines fighting besides other Traitor forces, who used the Daemon Engines to supplement their forces. In battle, the Blood Slaughterers were used as line breakers and imbued with the singular purpose of causing unrelenting carnage.[2]
Weaponry
Most lacked ranged, weapons, however, and instead relied on their speed and armor plating to allow them to unleash their two Slaughterer Blade limbs upon their foes.[2]
Some Blood Slaughterers, though, exchanged one of the Blades for an oversized Impaler Harpoon, which allowed the Daemon Engines to drag their foes into their grips.[2]
Rogue Trader (1992)
The Blood Slaughterer was a Daemonic robot of Khorne, a small vehicle with two wheels, available to late 1st Edition and early 2nd Edition Chaos armies. The Slaughterer was daemonically possessed and subject to frenzy. Traveling swiftly on iron-bound wheels, it carried twin-linked Heavy Bolters, a Chainaxe and a Lash of Khorne. The Lash was a powerful energy whip, crackling with energy, the iron claws at the tip of each whip dripping in corrosive venom.[1]
The Slaughterer was one of Khorne's daemonic machine creatures of iron and brass. It was protected by a daemonic aura, making it harder to kill than usual. However, with the advent of the Codex: Chaos (2nd Edition), the Blood Slaughterer was phased out of the Chaos army list.[1]
