- 798.M41: Assault on Baal — The Blood Angels' homeworld of Baal came under attack from the Orks of Waaagh! Big Skorcha. Though two of the three invading Ork space hulks were destroyed in orbit by the Blood Angels fleet and boarding parties, a third landed on the surface and disgorged thousands of Orks. The defences of the Blood Angels' fortress-monastery would have fallen if not for forty-one Dreadnoughts led by Furioso Astramael, who managed to hold off the Orks long enough for reinforcements to arrive from orbit and mop up the remaining Ork forces.[14a]

Ghazghkull ravages the hive world of Armageddon, the Blood Angels, as well as their brothers from the Ultramarines and the Salamanders arrive to lend the beleaguered planet aid. Such was Commander Dante's reputation that Tu'shan and Calgar ceded overall command of the Space Marine strike force to him. The Blood Angels bore the brunt of the close-quarter fighting, eventually culminating in a massed drop-pod assault into the heart of Ghazghkull's forces that finally broke the back of the Ork army.[14c]

During the ensuing conflict, Captain Tycho succumbs to the Black Rage, finally meeting a valiant end as part of the Death Company upon the walls of Hive Tempestora. Brother-Captain Machiavi succeeds him in command of the Company.[14e][16]

Kossolax eventually summons Daemons for aid, including a Bloodthirster, after sacrificing thousands of Agripinaa's citizens. However thanks to the Sanguinary Priest Numitor and the Black Rage-berserk Death Company, the Bloodthirster and Kossolax were both defeated at great cost to the Blood Angels involved.[19] In addition, Astorath and other Captains commanded the defence of the Diamor System in the Diamor Campaign.[3]

Trivia
- Note 1: Space Hulk: Tactics doesn't specify when the story exactly happens, it just says "closing years of the M41". Other sources can give us more information: Karlaen had been First Captain for two centuries in 999.M41, this means Ubaldo could have been First Captain until 799.M41. The main characters in the campaign already know of the Tyranids. This means the First Tyrannic War has already happened and the story is set between 742.M41 and 799.M41.
